Redlands High School Scholarships

Three $300 scholarships may be awarded to outstanding seniors who have been in the Academic Decathlon program all four years of high school and whose performances have contributed to a successful program.

This $1,000 scholarship will be offered to a graduating senior at Redlands High School. Preference will be given to those who choose to attend a trade/vocational school; or those who choose to study music. Please submit a 250-word essay on the topic, "What I think it means to be a good friend."

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating young woman with a minimum 3.0 GPA who is planning to enter a medical field. Students entering any medical profession are eligible; however, preference will be given to qualified students entering a program leading to a degree in registered nursing.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating student who plans to become a teacher. The recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, extensive community service and a passion for helping others. This scholarship is given in memory of Melinda Stevens, elementary teacher in Redlands. Provide an essay explaining why you would be a worthy recipient of this scholarship.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior girl with a minimum 3.0 GPA who, in an essay, expresses educational and career goals which demonstrate an appreciation of and a willingness to pursue the AAUW mission of advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. An essay is required for this scholarship using this prompt: Write an essay expressing your educational and career goals which demonstrate a willingness and appreciation to pursue the mission of AAUW which includes advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a student with a B or higher GPA. The student must be a son, daughter, grandchild, great-grandchild, sister or brother of a Veteran. Write an essay stating how the military has affected your life. Include name(s) of the veteran and the branch of military service for your family member(s).

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has shown perseverance, compassion, and friendship even in times of great personal struggle. It honors Andrew Garcia's struggle and embodies the spirit of future hopes and dreams. Please submit a brief essay explaining why you are qualified for this scholarship.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is in the top ten percent (10%) of his or her class and will be attending a four-year California college or university on a full-time basis.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior for citizenship, academic accomplishment, contribution to school and community, and future career plans. The student should be college-bound who plans to attend on a full-time basis.

Several $500 or greater scholarships may be awarded to students who show academic excellence as well as a financial need. The students must also be college-bound graduating seniors who will be attending school on a full-time basis.

This $750 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is attending Redlands High School and is seeking a career in the field of medicine. The student must have participated in the HEART Academy program for three years.

This $2,500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is seeking a career in the field of medicine. The student must be outstanding both academically and in leadership skills, ensuring success in his or her planned career.

This $2,000 scholarship may be awarded to one varsity football offensive lineman with a minimum 2.0 GPA that has been a starter for at least one year and has exhibited good citizenship, volunteerism and dedication who exhibits the same qualities exhibited by Greg Horton, especially his big heart.

This $2,000 scholarship may be awarded to a three-year participant of the Redlands High School sports program and has been a starter for at least one year and has exhibited good citizenship, volunteerism and dedication. The student must have maintained at least a 2.0 GPA.

This $1000 scholarship shall be awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated an interest in agriculture and/or our community's unique citrus history. Preference will be given to students intending to further their studies in agriculture or environmental sciences, and/or to those who identify as the child of a farmworker/farm family. Please submit a short statement (~150 words) that relates to how you fulfill the scholarship description. This gift is made warmly from the farmers of Redlands, and is designed to remind the selected recipient(s) of the smell of Redlands' orange blossoms in spring.

The $500 Bob Weber Pride Scholarship recognizes the accomplishments of graduating seniors within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community who have actively contributed to their school's Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) club or an equivalent school group for at least one year. While GPA and financial need are considered, primary importance is placed on your involvement in and dedication to the GSA club. Please submit a 300+ word response addressing the following three questions: How has your identity as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community shaped your educational journey? How has participating in the GSA club (or its equivalent) benefitted you? How do you envision using your education and experiences to contribute to the advancement of inclusivity and understanding for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the future? Your essay will play a key role in the selection process and is an opportunity to share your authentic experiences and aspirations. We encourage you to be creative and thoughtful in your responses.

Two $1,000 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors with a minimum 2.0 GPA who plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational program. Continued involvement in scouting and community service will be considered. Preference will be given to individuals who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

This $2,000 scholarship may be awarded to a student who has captained a varsity team, has a 3.75 GPA or higher and has a love of history as demonstrated by passing an AP history exam. Brian Glassco was a 1999 graduate of Redlands High School. The criteria of this scholarship exemplifies his love of sports, history and academic achievement.

These $500 scholarships may be awarded to students who attended Bryn Mawr Elementary School for at least two years. The student must have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA, have good citizenship, demonstrated community service, and have a desire to help others. The scholarship may be used at any college or trade school. Academic standing and financial need are also taken into consideration.

This $2,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior with plans to attend either a community college or 4-year college with plans to study and have a career in the media arts, preferably audio or video production.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has been a CSF member for at least 4 semesters and who plans to be a teacher and eventually an administrator in the public school system.

This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who attended and was involved in school activities at Clement Middle School. Please write a 500 word essay describing your involvement and activities at Clement and how they helped you in high school.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior planning to continue his/ her education at a junior college, university, or a vocational school. Preference shall be given to a student that attends a catholic church or a catholic youth ministry. High academics not a must. Write a short essay highlighting the years you've attended a local Catholic Church or Youth Group and your involvement in the church.

This $2,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who will continue to further his or her education in a career of his or her choice.

These $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Cope Middle School for a minimum of two years. Requirements include good citizenship and a desire to continue education after high school. Priority will be given to a student whose relatives or guardians were PTSA volunteers. Please write a short statement of how you plan to continue your education after high school and your relationship to Cope PTA volunteers.

Two $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Cram Elementary School for at least two years and have a 3.0 GPA or better who plans on attending a Junior College or four-year college.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a college-bound graduating senior, including local junior colleges, who plans to major in environmental sciences, including forestry preservation.

This $500 scholarship is awarded to a student with a 3.0 GPA or above who has competed in the Cross Country program for at least two years with one being as a varsity member. This scholarship honors a student who is determined to improve yet also demonstrates concern and encouragement for teammates. Dennis Kennedy graduated in 1960 from RHS and 1965 from the University of Redlands. He competed in both cross country and track in both high school and college, winning many awards. He held the mile record at the U of R until one of his own students ran faster. He coached at the U of R, at Cope and Moore, and completed 30 seasons coaching at RHS in both sports.

This scholarship of $500 (or greater) may be awarded to a graduating senior who will enroll full-time at a four-year college or university pursuing a business or teaching career. The recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and attended a RUSD High School for three consecutive years.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to enter the teaching profession.

Scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who are members of the RHS Mock Trial team, for a minimum of 4 years, and whose performances have contributed to a successful program. Additional scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who have played on the RHS Mock Trial team for a minimum of three years.

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Redlands High School graduating senior who is well rounded and has excellent extracurricular activities such as athletics, student government, clubs or the arts in addition to high academic achievement. Preference given to students who attend O Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Adelaide’s Catholic Church or St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Financial need may be considered. Please submit a 500 word or less essay that explains the attributes or experiences that make you a well rounded person.

This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who shows high academic achievement, outstanding citizenship, and performs service to their school and community. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 Weighted Total GPA who plans to attend a community college or university. They must take at least 2 years in a performance arts class (marching band, instrumental, band, orchestra, choir, color guard, theatre). One semester of performing arts class must be during the senior year. Edna was a member of the Redlands Terrier Marching Band and Wind Ensemble during her 3 years at RHS. She played Clarinet and Alto Sax. She was a member of the Daisy Chain as a junior in 1990. She graduated from RHS in 1991. Edna attended UC Irvine. She graduated in 1996 with a double major in Biological Sciences and Social Ecology. One of Edna's passions is AIDS Lifecycle, which is a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. This occurs in the 1st week of June. The ride raises money for medical care and social services to those living with HIV. Edna participated in this ride 13 times. However, during the ride in 2014, Edna suffered cardiac arrest and unfortunately, she passed away on June 8, 2014. We will all remember Edna's beautiful smile and enthusiasm she shared with all of us.

This $1,500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has maintained a 3.0 or higher GPA, has participated on the speech or debate team for at least two years (one of which must be senior year), and plans to attend a four-year college or university on a full-time basis. Additional consideration will be given to a student who demonstrates a variety of interests and performs service at school and in the community.

This $1,500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior with a 3.0 or greater GPA who intends to pursue a career in Engineering. Special consideration will be given to applicants involved in non-school service groups such as church or community service.

One $500 scholarship may be awarded to students of Mexican-American descent. The recipient must have a 3.0 or higher GPA, demonstrate good citizenship, and participate in school or community activities.

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and plans to go into the field of Environmental Sciences/Biological Sciences. Volunteering at local parks, community service, or involvement with Eagle Scout projects will be taken into consideration when choosing the scholarship recipient. Dr. H.M. Hill, founder of Caroline Park, and his children are graduates of Redlands High School. Scholarship recipient (and family) will be invited to take a guided tour of Caroline Park to learn about the history and establishment of this Botanical Nature garden. Please write an essay of 250 words or less stating where and how you have volunteered in your community.

This $1,000 scholarship honors a girl’s water polo player who reflects meaningfully on her journey so far and her path ahead. It is awarded based on depth of thought and personal insight – not on academic achievement, writing style, or word count. As you prepare to navigate life beyond high school – both in and out of the water – reflect on your personal journey. In a short essay, share what you believe matters most: the journey itself, the destination you’re chasing, or the people who have impacted and who will continue to impact your story? Use your personal experiences in water polo and life to explain your answer.

This $1,500 scholarship may be awarded in memory of Harry Muñoz, a Redlands High School graduate of the Class of 1940. Mr. Muñoz lettered in four major sports and was a lifetime resident of Redlands and an active member of the community. This scholarship may be given to a deserving graduate who has demonstrated academic achievement, outstanding citizenship, and a desire to continue his/her education.

Three $5,000 scholarships may be awarded to students who have achieved academic excellence and have participated in school activities.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and is active in sports, student government and service groups such as church, scouts or community service. This scholarship requires a short essay outlining the student's activities and plans for continuing education, career and how this scholarship will advance their plans must be included.

This $500 celebrates students who have faced challenges and risen above them with determination, hope, and strength. This $500 scholarship supports a graduating senior who has demonstrated resilience through personal, academic, or social obstacles and remains committed to pursuing higher education. Students who have received Special Education-related services or individualized support are strongly encouraged to apply, as this scholarship honors students who have worked hard to overcome barriers and move forward. Recipients may attend any accredited college, university, or vocational program of their choice, whether nearby at Crafton Hills College, San Bernardino Valley College, or Cal State San Bernardino, or beyond, as they expand their horizons and soar toward greater opportunities. Applicants should have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, but students with lower GPAs are also encouraged to apply if they can show persistence, growth, and effort toward their goals. A personal statement of at least 300 words (up to 500 words preferred) should tell your story of resilience, how you faced challenges, what you learned, and how you continue to move forward. The committee values honesty, effort, and heart above perfection. This scholarship honors the courage to keep going, the belief in one’s own potential, and the power of turning struggle into strength.

This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is outstanding in the field of math or science. The recipient will be selected based on grades and achievement test scores in chemistry, physics and/or math.

This $500 scholarship shall be awarded to a student in the Redlands Unified School District who actively participated in a digital newspaper program and is planning a career in Journalism. Mr. Folmer passionately served Southern California weekly and daily newspapers in newsroom positions ranging from reporter and copy editor to editor in chief for 50 years. Please submit a 300 word essay describing your passion to pursue a branch of the newspaper/journalism business.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a special education student continuing on to college. The recipient must have special needs in high school. A short statement/essay explaining the special circumstances of the recipient must be submitted.

Two $2,500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who have shown effort and dedication to succeed in community involvement, work or volunteer experiences, athletics, extracurricular activities, and/or academics. The recipient should be a positive influence on friends and the community. The scholarships shall reward effort, dedication, and positive attitude, rather than a specific GPA. This scholarship honors Jan A. Winn, a long-time teacher in the Redlands Unified School District, who always believed in her students. She taught with a passion and was a positive influence on her students and peers.

One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to continue their education in the field of kinesiology, education, or political science at a 2- or 4-year college. Student must graduate with a minimum GPA of 3.00 or higher. Financial need is a consideration for this scholarship. The student chosen should demonstrate at least one of the following characteristics: empathy towards others, dedication to civic engagement, commitment to health and wellness, participation in their community, and/or passion for education and learning. To apply, please illustrate in 500-750 words how you have embodied one or more of these qualities and made a positive impact in your community and how it will further your education.

These $500 scholarships may be awarded to outstanding graduating seniors who intend to pursue a degree in business at a four year university. Preference will be given to a student majoring in accounting. The student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Financial need is a significant consideration.

Multiple scholarships for $500 may be awarded to deserving students who have a 2.5 GPA or higher, and have applied to a university, community college, or trade school. The graduate must have been promoted from Judson and Brown. The student must submit a 500 word essay of what you did during your four years in high school and how you will leave a legacy that will impact Redlands.

This $250 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has participated in the Redlands High School Vocal Music Department and has made a positive impact to the organization as a whole.

These $500 scholarships may be awarded to a graduating seniors who attended Kimberly Elementary School for a minimum of three years, is an average or above-average achiever, demonstrates good citizenship. Preferably a student whose family was involved in the Kimberly PTA.

This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a student who attended Kingsbury Elementary School for at least three years, has a minimum of a B average, and has demonstrated good citizenship and leadership. Involvement in extracurricular and community activities must be demonstrated. Financial need will be considered.

$4,000 award disbursed over a two-year period. Applicants must have a 3.5 + G.P.A. coupled with a high level of community service, extracurricular activity involvement with demonstrated leadership ability and outstanding citizenship. Applicants must also submit a maximum 300 word essay stating their academic and/or career goals as well as why they deserve to be considered for this scholarship award. Financial need is a consideration when selecting awardees. Four students and two alternates are selected from CVHS, REVHS, and RHS through an interview process. One student and one alternate will be selected from Grove HS through an interview process.

$4,000 award disbursed over a two-year period. Applicants must have a 2.5 + G.P.A. coupled with a demonstrated interest and aptitude in a technical area (e.g. mechanical, health or fire technician, engineering, computer science). Coursework in a ROP/ CTE pathway, relative training or experiences, involvement in community service, and extra curricular activities are desired. Applicants must also submit a maximum 300 word essay stating their academic and/or career goals as well as why they deserve to be considered for this scholarship award. Financial need is a consideration when selecting awardees. One student and one alternate will be selected from CVHS, REVHS, and RHS through an interview process. One student and one alternate will be selected from OHS through an interview process.

One $2,000 scholarship is awarded to a Redlands Senior High School graduating senior with GPA of 3.0 or better and has an interest or aptitude for a career in education or business. The student must have been involved in community service, extracurricular activities and be highly motivated to obtain certification or degree at a college/university, trade school or community college.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing a degree in engineering. Student must have a 3.5 GPA and financial need will be a consideration.

Most former students would recognize Lorraine Valdez as long-time attendance clerk at Redlands High School. Whether she told you her new favorite joke, celebrated a win from last night’s game of any sport, or raised her eyebrows at someone’s unexcused absence, Lorraine was well-known for her generosity of spirit and the love she spread throughout her community. What people may not know about her is that in getting married and starting her family at 16, she didn't have the opportunity to graduate high school. Recognizing the importance of education, she went back to school to get her G.E.D., and took opportunity after opportunity to work her way up from her job as a noon duty aide to her tenure at RHS. In continuing her legacy of generosity, forgiving when she could, and taking advantage of every opportunity given, this scholarship established in her name is to provide a high school senior with a second chance. Whatever the reason a student may have been pushed a step (or a few) behind, the funds are meant to support them in continuing their education in a way that is meaningful to them. In a short easy essay please describe what a second chance could mean for you in your life (we are not looking at the length we are looking at content).

Several $1,500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Lugonia Elementary School. The students must have extensive community service and/or be involved in school activities, demonstrate good citizenship, and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The scholarship may be used at any college, university, or vocational school.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to recognize a student who has persistently put forth great effort to achieve academically. GPA or financial need is not a consideration for this award. Please submit a brief essay detailing the effort you have put forth in your academic career.

This $1,000 scholarships honors Maria Perry Shores. Maria was a first-generation college graduate who served the Redlands community as an elementary teacher at Lugonia and Kimberly schools. Qualification for this scholarship is a 3.0 academic GPA. Special consideration will be given to a first generation college student, someone who has demonstrated a dedication to their Catholic faith, community service and/or a student whose second language is English. Please provide a short statement (100 words maximum) that relates how you fulfill the scholarship description.

These $500 scholarship may be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Mariposa Elementary School for at least three years. The recipient must be pursuing education at a two or four-year university and show academic excellence with a minimum 3.0 GPA as well as community service. Preference will be given to those who meet the criteria and demonstrate financial need.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduate with proven athletic ability and an interest in a career involving some phase of athletics, such as sports medicine, coaching, or physical therapy. Community service and leadership qualities are desirable but not essential. Student must plan to enroll in a two-year or four-year college program and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Selection will be based upon high school counselors' recommendations.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a student with a 2.5 GPA or higher and is planning on attending a trade school or 2-year college with an interest in a career as a mechanic, welder, plumber, electrician, fireman or nurse.

This $400 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who attended McKinley Elementary School for at least three years and plans to attend a college, university, or vocational school. Requirements include good citizenship and a desire to continue education after high school. Priority will be given to students whose relatives or guardians were PTA volunteers. Please write a short statement about how your family was involved while you attended McKinley. Please provide volunteer's names.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is a member of the Redlands High School Terrier football team. The recipient must demonstrate academic achievement and good citizenship. Preference will be given to a high academic achiever. Preference will also be given to an offensive or defensive lineman. All players, starters or non-starters will be considered.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a student who attended Mission Elementary School and has a minimum 2.0 GPA.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a black graduating senior who demonstrates financial need. This student must be planning on earning a college degree or certificate program. Write a 300 word essay explaining what lessons or past experiences will help you bring positive changes for the future?

Three $750 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Moore Middle School for three years and plans to attend college or a trade school.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating male senior who has lettered in either junior varsity or varsity soccer at some point in their high school career. Preference will be given to students who share Nicholas Carter’s passion for soccer, culinary arts, and military service. Applicants should present a 500+ word essay demonstrating the impact that ALL THREE of these interests have had in their life. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants MUST include ALL THREE topics in their essay. The essay is intended to shed light upon the student’s passion rather than provide a proficiency in writing. Students may feel free to include humor, recount personal events, or find other creative ways to let their personality be the focus of the essay.

These $500 scholarships may be awarded by the Northside Booster Club to encourage athletes to maintain a good academic average. The scholarships may be awarded to a graduating male or female who have maintained at least a 2.5 GPA and participated in at least one sport.

This $500 memorial scholarship has been established in honor of Paige Caldwell-Burkholder. The receiving candidates would: Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA; has been a member of the band or orchestra; and/or a member of any women’s sport team. The awardee should also possess the qualities of our daughter, including kindness, joyfulness, thoughtfulness, fortitude, good character, an easy nature, dependability, and leadership. And finally, the honored senior would want to pursue a career in teaching. Please write a short essay (250-500 words) describing how you embody Paige’s attributes.

This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior whose parent has been actively involved in the PTA. Write a 500 word essay using the following prompt: Describe how your parent's involvement in the PTA has impacted your education. Please name the positions your parent has held.

These $750 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who will be majoring in architecture or architectural engineering at an accredited college or university. It is awarded in memory of Steven J. Lehnhof, an architecture and drafting teacher at Redlands High School for many years.

This $1,500 or greater scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who will enroll as a full-time student in a four-year college or university pursuing a business or teaching career. The student must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and have attended a Redlands Unified School District school for three consecutive years.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a deserving senior who displays good citizenship, character, academic potential, has a need for financial assistance, and will attend an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis.

Several $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who will attend a four-year college or university on a full-time basis. They must have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA, shown good citizenship and participated in school and community activities.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a student with at least a 3.0 GPA. Financial need is a consideration. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who will attend a community or a four-year college on a full-time basis.

These $500.00 scholarships may be awarded to one graduating senior for each high school (CVHS, REV, RHS, OHS) in honor of previous RUSD Superintendent, Mauricio Arellano who was a champion for equity. This scholarship supports underrepresented students who have overcome a significant challenge related to inequity. It aims to empower students who have faced and worked through an inequitable situation through finding their voice and advocating for their success. Students who apply must have good citizenship, and they must submit a 500-word essay sharing a specific time where they faced an inequitable situation and how they worked through that situation through self advocacy. These scholarships are open to students pursuing any form of higher education or career technical education, regardless of field or discipline. Whether enrolled in a traditional academic program or specialized vocational training, all eligible students are encouraged to apply. A screening committee composed of RAPA members will meet to determine the most deserving applicants based on an objective scoring system.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has participated in the Redlands Baseball/Softball for Youth program for a minimum of three years, including scorekeepers or umpires. The student must have exemplified good sportsmanship and academic achievement. Please include a 200 word essay entitled How Redlands Baseball/Softball for Youth Has Impacted My Life. Indicate how many years and in what capacity you participated, i.e.: Player, Umpire, Scorekeeper.

This $300 scholarship may be awarded to graduating seniors who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and are active in non-school service groups such as church, scouts, or community service clubs.

This $1,000 or greater scholarship may be awarded to the most deserving student within the Redlands Unified School District. The student must have a 2.5 or higher GPA, be the son or daughter of a current RESPA member, and wish to attend an institution of higher learning. The student must present a 250 word essay using the following prompt: What Education Means to Me.

This $350 scholarship may be awarded to help a deserving graduate pursue his or her training beyond high school. First preference is given to a student with a hearing or sight disability. If no recipient meets these criteria, the recipient must have scholastic ability. Financial need is also considered. Write a short essay regarding your sight or hearing disability.

This $750 scholarship is offered to a graduating senior who has contributed to their school’s theater program in either a leadership, performance, directing, writing, design and/or technical capacity and who plans to pursue theater interests in the future. In up to 500 worlds, please describe how participating in theatre has influenced your understanding of the world and helped shape your plans for the future. Please draw on the following questions as you draft your essay, how many years have you participated in theatre? Did you have any leadership roles or responsibilities?What is your major focus of interest in theatre? (Acting/Tech/Design/Management, etc…) Why does this work interest you? Describe a specific role you held in a theatre production (as a performer or member of the technical crew) which affected you positively. How were you or others impacted by the experience? How will theatre be a part of your life in the future?

Several $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who have participated in the water polo and/or swimming program for at least three seasons. Must have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA.

This $250 scholarship, awarded by the RHS Instrumental Music Boosters, is given to a student who best exemplifies the highest level of commitment and dedication to the Instrumental Music Department at Redlands High School. A student who holds him or herself to the highest standard and inspires others by example. Requirements: Student needs to have participated in the Instrumental Music Program each year they attended RHS.  Student must have a plan to continue in music after high school (not necessarily a music major but enrolled in a music program. Applicants must write a short one paragraph essay explaining why they are deserving of the scholarship. 

This scholarship may be awarded to the RHS Blue varsity team captain who is a senior and who has played on the RHS Mock Trial team for a minimum of four years. If there are multiple senior, four year, varsity team captains the award will be evenly split among the recipients. The recipients will not be eligible for additional Mock trial scholarships.

Redlands High School PTSA may award several scholarships up to $500 each to graduating seniors who demonstrate good citizenship, service to school and/or community, and a high work capacity. Scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors with a minimum 2.0 GPA pursuing careers in a vocational field, or a minimum 3.0 GPA pursuing a four-year college degree. Current PTSA membership will be taken into consideration. To be considered, students must submit a 100-word statement about the impact of PTA or PTSA in their lives.

Three $300 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who have been in Spiritleaders for a minimum of two years. One recipient will be the student with the highest cumulative GPA, and the advisors will select the other recipients.

Three $250 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who have participated in the Redlands High School Vocal Music Department and plan to continue making/supporting music in some capacity in the future.

This $1,500 scholarship may be awarded by the Professional Women of Redlands, a committee of the Redlands League, to a graduating young woman who possesses a minimum 2.5 GPA, has participated in at least one school activity, and has demonstrated some type of community service. Financial need is also a consideration. The recipient must be planning to attend a two-year degree or certification program or four-year college. Preference will be given to a student who will be the first in her family to obtain a college degree or professional certification program. A short essay is required using this prompt: Describe an adversity you have faced and overcome and how this has helped motivate you to continue your education. Also, include a description of your participation in school activities and community service, evidence of financial need and why you want to continue your education.

Six $500 scholarships will be awarded to swimmers with Redlands Swim Team who have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Must be a current swimmer or have swum with Redlands Swim Team for 3 of the last 4 years. Please write a 300-word essay using the following prompt: How has your time with RST impacted the person you are today, and what lessons and skills have you learned that will help you achieve your educational goals?

Several $1,000 scholarships may be awarded to graduates of Redlands Unified. Candidates for the scholarships should be in good standing in regards to grades and citizenship. A candidate with an RTA connection will be given priority preference. Candidates pursuing a profession in the teaching field will be given secondary preference. In order to receive awarded monies, the candidate must have already been admitted to a trade school, community college, 4-year college or university.

Two $300 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who have provided outstanding service to the Theatre Arts Company in any area.

The RHS Boys’ Soccer Booster is offering three $200 scholarships to deserving RHS senior soccer players. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, be a current senior on the RHS Boys Soccer Team, have four years of high school soccer participation (proof required), including participation on the RHS Soccer team for at least three of those years. Eligible students must submit a 500-word essay describing how involvement in RHS Boys Soccer has contributed to their personal growth, the skills gained that support their educational goals, and their future plans in soccer.

One $5,000 scholarship may be awarded to a student with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a maximum of 3.5 with the intention to pursue a degree or a career in a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) discipline at either a trade school, community college, or 4-year college/university. Financial need is a requirement. The recipient must have a minimum of 100 hours of community service, volunteering, or work experience throughout high school. Write an essay in 500 words or less describing how your past has prepared you for your vision of the future.

This $1,500 scholarship is awarded in memory of Rick Munoz. The recipient must have lettered in at least one sport in his or her senior year, as well as demonstrated high academic achievement, outstanding citizenship, and a desire to continue his or her education.

These $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors. The scholarship was created from the long history of promoting love and respect among all of the people of faith in our community. The student must provide a 500 word essay using the following prompt: "How I Can Be an Agent of Peace."

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a senior whose athletic prowess has been limited for the most part to junior varsity teams. Sportsmanship, citizenship, scholarship and financial need are considered, and the recipient must attend an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior attending a two or four year college who plans to study the field of Information Technology.

This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior attending a two or four year college, university or trade school. Sally Lucero was a light in the local community of Redlands. She cared deeply for all people, and had a special talent for caring for those that needed extra support. She found joy working with children of all ages and mentoring them to be the best version of themselves. Sally was not only a student in the Redlands Unified School District in her childhood, but she was also proud to be working within the district to positively impact the lives of students and staff she made connections with. Sally’s three most important values were empathy for those around her, generosity to give back to the community she grew up in, and determination and drive to work towards your passions and goals in life. In an essay of 500 – 1,000 words, please write about how you embody each of Sally’s most important values (empathy for others, generosity for your community, determination and drive towards your passions) in your own life. Please share your goals for the future, and how this scholarship could support you to reach those goals.

Two $900 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who have participated in ROTC and have excelled academically. Financial need is a consideration as well as demonstrated patriotism. The scholarship is in honor of Sgt. Alcarez, who was a RHS graduate. He was a paratrooper and medic in the elite 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was killed in action while serving our country in Afghanistan.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is a member of the wrestling team at RHS. The recipient must have been a member of the team for at least two-years, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate good citizenship.

This scholarship is open to aspiring healthcare professionals. The Shirley Jones Nethery Campbell Memorial scholarship is dedicated to the memory of a compassionate registered nurse who made a lasting impact in the lives of many people. Please submit a 500-word or less essay explaining why you are passionate about pursuing a career in the medical profession and what steps you have taken to prepare for this regarding field. While the scholarship is open to all interested in a healthcare career, preference will be given to those pursuing nursing at a college university in the fall. Financial need may also be taken into consideration when selecting a recipient.

Two $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors in the upper one-half of the senior class who attended Smiley Elementary School and are a well-rounded student. Financial need and past parent PTA involvement will also be a consideration.

This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a Redlands High School graduate who has been accepted to attend the University of Redlands or the University of California, Riverside.

Three $750 scholarships may be awarded to outstanding graduating seniors who intend to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science at a four-year college or university. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate an interest in a career in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science and be involved in community service and/or extracurricular activities. Please write a short essay describing your interests and life experiences.

This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 with plans to attend a 2 year or 4 year college and plans to major in business or accounting.

This $1,000 scholarship is for a student who intends to pursue a career in medicine (eg: Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse). Applicants must have a GPA greater than 3.75, have shown interest in volunteering for medical care. Participation in extracurricular activities, such as sports or fine arts are desirable.

This $1,000 scholarship is for a student who intends to pursue a degree and career in the performing arts, with emphasis on music. Applicant must have a GPA greater than 3.75 and have participated in high school performance art such as band, music, or theater.

This $1,000 scholarship is for a student who intends to pursue a career in the sciences or scientific research. The student plans to pursue a graduate degree in the sciences. Applicants must have a GPA greater than 3.75 and demonstrate interest in the sciences and scientific research. Participation in extracurricular activities such as sports or fine arts is desirable.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior from any Redlands Unified high school who has a 2.5 GPA or higher. This student must have attended Victoria Elementary School for at least three years and has continued to follow the Victoria Peace Builders Pledge.

Two $500 scholarships may be awarded to students who plan to continue to higher education at a 2 or 4 year college after high school. They must have 3 years of dedication to the AVID program and model organization, leadership and academic strength in their Advancement via Individual Determination. This may include involvement in the AVID extracurricular activities, on or off campus, class participation in the staple WICOR lessons, and taking challenging AP classes.

The Raymond and Jean Olson Memorial Scholarship is for individuals at Redlands High School who have shown exceptional leadership and commitment outside of structured extracurricular activities. It honors a student with a B average or better who has been actively involved in helping with family, caring for siblings, or working while balancing the academic demands of school, understanding that not everyone has the time for traditional extracurricular activities. The Raymond and Jean Olson scholarship recognizes the meaningful work the recipient has done outside of school and provides support for their higher education. Please submit a short essay describing how you have stepped up to help your family or your work experience.

The Rhodes Family Scholarship is a $24,000 award, funded over four years, presented to one graduating senior from each comprehensive high school in the Redlands Unified School District. This scholarship honors students who demonstrate academic excellence and who have represented their high school with distinction in competitive, school-sanctioned extracurricular programs held primarily outside the school day. It recognizes students who have served as ambassadors of their school and our community through participation in academic, athletic, or performing arts teams that compete against other schools at the district, county, and/or state level. Application Requirements: Each applicant must submit both an essay and a letter of recommendation. The essay (approximately 500 words) must respond to all three parts of the following prompt. Essays that do not address all three parts will not be considered: 1. The extracurricular competitive programs or teams you participated in, including at least one specific example of a competition, performance, or event that had a lasting impact on you; 2. What you have learned about the responsibility and influence that comes with representing your high school and our community to others, including describing an experience or interaction that helped shape your understanding of that responsibility; and 3. How those lessons will contribute to your success in college and beyond. The letter of recommendation must come from an individual who has directly coached or advised the student on a qualifying competitive team or program. The letter should describe what contribution(s) the student has made that bettered their high school because of participating on the team or program being described. Letters from individuals who did not coach or advise the applicant in a qualifying activity will not meet this requirement. Eligibility: Applicants must have attended a Redlands Unified School District high school for all four years and have either a 3.7 GPA or higher or rank in the top 15% of their graduating class. Qualifying programs include those officially sanctioned by the District, State, County Superintendent of Schools, CIF, or an adjudicated competition board such as Academic Decathlon, Mock Trial, Speech and Debate, Science Fair, competitive marching band, or adjudicated choir, and have a majority of their practices and competitions outside the school day. The scholarship is paid in four annual installments of $6,000 upon proof of full-time enrollment in an accredited college or university.

These $500 scholarships may be awarded to outstanding students who intend to pursue higher education at a two-year or four-year college. These scholarships are selected by the counselors at each high school.

One $1000 scholarship may be awarded to graduating seniors who have demonstrated high academic achievement, outstanding citizenship, and service to school and community. The recipients will be selected through an interview process conducted by the Redlands Rotary Club scholarship committee.

This $3000 scholarship may be awarded to a male or female student who has attended a school within the Redlands Unified School district from 1st-12th grade. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.9 and plan on attending a two or four year college. Applicants must have outstanding citizenship and service to school and community. The recipient will be selected through an interview process conducted by the Redlands Rotary Club scholarship committee.

This $2,500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has shown the highest academic achievement, outstanding citizenship, and service to school and community. The recipient will be selected through an interview process conducted by the Redlands Rotary Club scholarship committee.

This $4,000 scholarship may be awarded to an active member of the Interact Club. High academic achievement and good citizenship are taken into consideration. The recipient will be selected through an interview process conducted by the Redlands Rotary Club scholarship committee.

This $4,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has shown the highest in academic achievements, outstanding citizenship, and service to school and community. The recipient will be selected through an interview process conducted by the Redlands Rotary Club scholarship committee.

This $5,000 scholarship may be awarded to a student who has demonstrated high academic achievement, outstanding citizenship and service to school and community and intends to pursue a career in Civil or Architectural Engineering, Interior Architecture or Construction Management. The recipient will be selected through an interview process conducted by the Redlands Rotary Club scholarship committee.

This $5,000 scholarship may be awarded to a student who has shown outstanding citizenship and service to school and community and intends to pursue a career in architecture or engineering. The recipient must be a current or past member of the Boy Scouts of America for at least one year. The recipient will be selected through an interview process conducted by the Redlands Rotary Club scholarship committee.

This $2000 scholarship may be awarded to a student with a minimum 3.75 GPA who exhibits outstanding academic achievement, citizenship and community service with plans on pursuing a degree in the medical arts, veterinary, or medical degree program.

This $2000 scholarship may be awarded to a student with at least a 3.75 GPA with outstanding academic achievement, citizenship and community service who plans to have a career in the dental arts (dentist or hygienist).

This $1000 scholarship may be given to a graduating senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the vocal music department through leadership, character, and musical talent. Preference will be given to a student planning on pursuing a music major in college.

This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has maintained at least a 3.5 GPA, shown leadership in school activities, plans to attend a two or four-year college, any kind of trade school or any other form of education that will help the recipient make a positive contribution to society. Attendance can be either full or part-time. Preference will be given to a student who has participated in school or community activities. This scholarship is awarded in memory of William T. Hartzell, a community leader and lifetime resident of Redlands.
